Sunday

So, the first Sunday of the month all the museums are free. Free is very enticing-so we got up early and got ready fast and grabbed a croissant on our way to Mussee D'Orsay. Unfortunately we did not check the weather reports and all wore shorts. As you can see it was pretty overcast.

But since we were so early we got to be almost at the very beginning of the line. Lucky for us since it started thundering, lightning, and raining alot for about a half hour before the museum opened. Of course, they didn't let us in even a minute before it opened.

It was worth the wait and the rain though to get in free. The Monet exhibit was there this while we were there and even though I'm not a huge fan, I'm more of a fan having seen it in real life. Most of the museum was impressionism and post-impressionism. It was really well laid out though so I never felt overwhelmed or ready to die of art overdose. It also had a very strange section for furniture and jewelry and a big palace ballroom. Odd but interesting. Unfortunately no pictures were allowed and the museum people were on their toes. That was strange for Paris though, because so far the museum people have been really nice and not super concerned about any of the stuff. We've been touching statues and taking pictures with the statues and of art pieces. Not sure why this one was different. Anyway, I can't put up pics of what we saw, but it made me want to put up more art at home. Maybe I'll bring something back mom-a big sketch of my face:) On our way to the next museum we saw this fun sailboat race-they looked like maybe they were beginners, but still the atmosphere was fun.
They even had a little pool for the kids to learn in.We tried to go into the Grand Palais, but it wasn't free and it was only old old art, so we decided not to go. We came home and made a super late lunch and now we're watching the end of the French open. We might try to go to the Pompidou tonight, but most of us have fallen asleep and may be museum-ed out so we'll see. Maybe we'll just have some hot chocolate instead. We have school tomorrow you know, so we have to make sure we don't fall asleep in class.
