Saturday

Saturday morning we were planning on hitting up this amazing flea market-at least that's what we heard. But we got up a little late and decided to just make a big breakfast in instead. We made delicious crepes and eggs with fruit and coffee and had just a nice relaxing morning.

Then we took the long walk up to Sacre Coeur. This little square here was filled with artists sketching people and monuments and painting. I took a video of it, but I haven't figured out how to load them onto the blog yet. You can see the church tower in the corner there. While Margeaux and Monique were sketching, Kate and I sat on the hill by the church to read. We ended up just looking at Paris and finding buildings we knew and people watching. There are always way too many people to not watch them.

Sacre Coeur was breathtaking. The building itself is impressive, but then the setting makes it that much more unbelievable. Standing on the steps of the church you can see the entire city of Paris. To get to the church you climb up uneven stone steps through gardens and lawns.
Here is a picture of the approach to the church. Very steep and long, but absolutely amazing once you get to the top. We all agreed that this would be a better placed to get a proposal than the Eiffel Tower, though neither would be ideal-that's the common opinion in our house anyways:)
This little girl was sitting in one of the winding staircases to the church, eating her lunch. She must have been really hungry, because she didn't even bother to take off her roller-blades(roller-blading must be cool here by the way, since we see people doing it all the time).
